THE SHARED VISUAL
Memories, dreams and feelings exist without ever taking form. Each time a memory is revisited, it changes: nostalgia softens it, and the loss of innocence charges it with meaning. A house becomes a home; through storytelling, what has no form is written into objects, spaces and figures. Yet a memory lives in one mind only. There is no shared visual until it is captured in a shared real: the artwork. Only there can someone recognize a memory that was never theirs as if it were their own.
The grey area between losing childhood innocence and not yet being an adult. The sponge of the couch, the jute of a potato sack and the clothes once worn become the material of a new story.

A familiar story written from an intimacy that was never shared. Staged scenes and repetition turn objects and figures into something the viewer seems to remember.

The nausea of forgetting, altering or denying a memory. Stripes become indicators of time, a tutu becomes a shield, and skin turns green.

A dog stands guard without a head. In sleep the body feels present and able to protect itself, but that safety is only dreamt.
