THE CIGARETTE IS OVER
The exhibition “The Cigarette Is Over”, open until March 19, 2022 at Fondamenta gallery, describes the change in the perception of the vice of smoking in contemporary iconography. The icon of the smoker and the cultural references associated with it are today in decline and the young artists present in the exhibition describe through different visual languages, with awareness and irony, how the cigarette is a negative symbol and no longer compatible with the new generations. The installation “(The) facing (the) habit” represents the habit of smoking and its change over time.
It does this through a circular and perforated wooden structure.
Entering the work you feel like you are inside a trigger, which repeats and reloads.
Accompanied by the sound you are transported into the tension of habit, you are facing the habit itself.
