Nobody Is Dancing

Nobody Is Dancing is a project that explores the presence of the body by emphasizing its active absence.

The project evokes memory of movement through imprints left by dancing on the “dance floor” hanging from the ceiling.

This effect is amplified by the presence of the sound of moving feet, a sound captured during the making of the traces of movement on the dance floor; heightening the illusion of a body that is not physically present.

In this context, the dancing body is perceptible despite its absence.

In this way, the dancing body is felt even in its absence. Yet the dance itself stays out of reach: the distance between the viewer's feet and the "dance floor" makes the limit tangible. Presence and absence pull against each other, and the body is left with the tension of the space that holds it back
