Nobody Is Dancing

Nobody Is Dancing is a project that explores the presence of the body by emphasizing its active absence.

The project evokes memory of movement through imprints left by dancing on the “dance floor” hanging from the ceiling.

This effect is amplified by the presence of the sound of moving feet, a sound captured during the making of the traces of movement on the dance floor; heightening the illusion of a body that is not physically present.

In this context, the dancing body is perceptible despite its absence.

However, the physical act of dancing remains unattainable, the distance of the viewer their feet and the “dance floor” creates a palpable sense of limitation.

This interplay of absence and presence evokes a profound feeling of restriction, amplifying the tension between the body and its spatial constraints.
